Please help, first boat!

I have a 1989 150 Force. I noticed no water coming out the pee holes. I purchased the manual. I have the water pump kit. I feel ok doing it myself but would really appreciate any pointers. Also, the kit came with no o-rings for shaft. Can I re-use the old one? I am just nervous and don't want to make a mistake and over heat the engine. Thanks.
