(1996 112 spl Evinrude) I brought the boat home and went to fresh water flush. About 2 minutes into the flush, the alarm sounded and i immediately secured the engine. Upon removing the rinse ears from the lower end i noticed a grayish fluid imediately under the prop and dripping down the skeg. I then took the fill plug off and stuck a pipe cleaner in (NO FLUID). I can only assume that the prop seals are bad. I looked up the seal kit and water pump kit for this engine and the parts are $115.00 but the question is....can a very mechanicly inclined person replace the seals and water pump with the proper maintenance manual?? Also....would the alarm and no oil in the lower end with engine running for that short of a period have anything in common. Your experience is greatly appreciated.
