Please help identify Mercury 80HP age.

I have trawled through all of the previous Qu's about age of engines but all the links appear to stop with number identification on this engine in 1983 with 6232941 before going to a preceeding letter.

My engine number is 9256680
It's just to pique my curiosity.

If it has 4 coils and a power pack it is in the 1978-83 year range, if it has a belt driven distributer and 1 coil it can be from 1960 -1972 and block will be painted silver
