Late 70's could be a Stringer Electric Shift, 400 or 800 (more likely not). What is your HP? If you can post a photo that'll help too. Also, is there a HIN number on the boat? Usually on your registration and/or stamped in the transom under the rub rail.

That number goes to a 1982 5.7l Chevrolet setup..

574 = 5.7l 4 barrel
S = Selectrim
P = Power Steering
H = High Rise Manifolds
R = Right Hand Prop Rotation

CNG = 1982

260 horsepower - Model 800

Lol. I figured someone got autocorrected but couldnt figure it out. I have almost the exact same setup that you do except mine is a '79 with a 5.7L(OMC260) and the same drive(hydro-mechanical OMC 800 stringer). Let me know if you have any specific questions on the setup. Im far from an expert, but I can usually point people in the right direction.
