The lower unit has the following noise in this youtube video. Only makes this noise in gear, what could it be. Prop was loose but i tightened it down good. Still have the same noise. I forgot to put the motor up and drove the boat on trailer when the motor was down and it did scrap the concrete. Not sure if that is related but giving the whole background.

I'd start by removing the prop and inspect it and the prop shaft, seals, etc., then drain the lower unit oil into a clean container to inspect oil for water contamination, metal particles, etc., then drop the lower unit to inspect water pump, driveshaft seals, shifter shaft seals, etc. Some props can create noises and replacement is the cure. Good luck and keep us posted with your findings!:)

There is a ding on the prop could it just be out of balance? Im going to follow your directions as well.

I've read on here about dings and out of balance props creating a good bit of noise/vibration. Could you try a different prop and run it to establish if that's the source? Boat shops and dealers might loan you one for the afternoon, especially if it turns out to be the problem and they get to sell you a new prop! They usually have plenty of extra props laying around...take yours with you to show the guy and so they can match up the diameter and pitch. Good Luck!

You can put it in gear with the prop off and run the motor...your prop shaft is gonna spin, that's about all....

I just want to make sure the noise isnt coming from anywhere else but the the prop, if I take the prop off and the noise is gone the we can agree its in the prop or thrust washer right?

Update: Thrust washer looked ok, didnt see any evidence of the prop hitting the inside of the lower unit. But did notice that the shaft has a tiny bit of shaft play, and when I move it up and down its making the same noise. I drained the lower unit oil no metal or water present.
