All I can suggest is posting pics on this thread or throwing the motor in the trunk and bringing it to a BRP authorized shop. Perhaps someone will come along who can identify year from block plug numbers.
good luck

Hi & welcome...

First off, it would help a lot if the subject of your post was more useful... something like "9.5 hp, what model number?"

lots of people don't bother to read "help me!!" (no matter how many exclamation points). If you include the hp in your subject the folks with a pet interest in those particular models will read it.

Good luck.

I think most of the 9.5's had the same carb/kit? Have you talked to a dealer on if different kits are available?

I have been collecting Johnson serial numbers for a couple of months. Here's what I know so far:4,591,579 is a 1976. So yours is before 1976. Since the 9.9 came out in 1974, that narrows it down to a two year span. You are about 100,000 motors earlier than the '76, so would you believe 1974? Maybe '75
