Hello,

First, I want to state that I am a total newbie, I just got my first boat and first outboard...

After follow the Seloc repair manual on changing the water pump, I am stuck in forward gear....

I have already take the low unit out and check it 3 time that if I have missing any part. but it looks fine.

I am out of a idea, if you willing, please any suggestion would be really appreciated.

Otherwise, most of local repair shops are 3-4 weeks out.

Thanks

Did you take out that screw that you're not supposed to take out? :D

There's a screw on the side of the Lower unit that, if removed, can screw up your shift linkage.... Is this a possibility?

Hi,

I have a '95 Force 120, it has splined shift shaft connections; I don't think I un-bolt the screw that connect to shift shaft...

ok, ok, ok, I' be honest, The first time, when it put back the lower unit, I forgot the shift shaft spacer (it's a round plastic about 1 1/2 diameter and 4/7 inch thick) that goes between the top of shift shaft of the lower unit..

but, after I put it all back, I am still stuck on gear.

:(

It looks like you messed up your shift linkage, what you should have done was before removing the carter pin out you should have marked it with a magic marker. Once you reinstall the lower unit it should have just lined up again with you shift linkage,
