I have a 4.3L V6 and need to take off the timing chain cover.I see on the front of it that it says to replace when removed. Can anyone tell me why this is? It's a new one on there now the composite type and I hate to have to buy a new one again if I don't have to.Some of the others I have seen online don't have this stamped on them just the mercruiser replacement.
I was hoping to just replace the gaskets and use the same cover as I see no reason to replace it with a new one.
Thanks,Leo

My WAG , may be related to the auto side that uses the crank position sensor and marine dosen`t. A warped cover may affect the timing pick-up.
