Can someone please tell me how to adjust the carbs and idle screw. I have a 1990 90 HP force motor. I have spent alot of money trying to get the boat to work. I can get it to idle but as soon as i put it in gear at the lake it dies. We have tried to adjust the idle screw and it still dies. Can anyone help Please.

Re: PLease help with 90hp Force Carb Adjustments

A lot of these motors have to be put into gear quickly.

The idle adjustment screw on my 75 hp is on the top of the carb, if you are looking down the throat of it. The air intake cover has to be taken off on mine.

But before messing with that, can you give it a little extra gas to before kicking it into gear, to see if that will work. I just had the same problem on mine and I had to adjust the throttle thing that has the line on it that touches the black roller on the bottom of the carbs.

When adjusting the idle screw make sure the idle RPM is around 1000RPM. Once the boat in the water and you pop it in gear it will be somewhere around 800RPM which is what it should be.
