Ok so i have a 14 foot aluminum boat, nothing fancy just bench seats and a motor. I want to add running lights and a troling motor, also my motor has electric start so I figured i would hook that up as well as long as im gonna add a battery. so hear is my question can I use 18 gage speaker wire like someone told me to run the lights? Also I would like to store the battery upfront to help destribute weight, so could I run more wire back to the trolling motor? what about breakers? do i need more than one battery to do all of this?

Welcome to iBoats!

I would NOT! Marine Grade wire is called Marine grade for a reason. Corrosion and ohms is very important when you are on the water. Depending on how much usage you will have for the various units will give you your needs but more than likely you will need 2 batteries if you want to spend any significant time on the water. this is kinda technical but will give you a lot of info http://www.boatus.com/boattech/electric.htm

Good Luck :D
