please I'm debating my mechanic on timeing. HELP!
Hi, I'm back for another season of great advise. I have a 78 merc 115 more of less,it has somenew parts but anyway. My mechanic(who I think is losing his touch)insists on setting the timeing to 27 degrees. Everything I have read says 21 degrees. The motor threw reed valves through the block three times last year. Doe's anyone know why he would set the timing so high. Should I set it back to 21? Please help. I give up on my mechanic. He is retired now and I hear he enjoys his wacky tobacky a little too much. Thanks for any and all thoughts on the subject.
