I have a few questions I hope you guys can help me on. The motor is a 84 Evinrude 60hp.

1.How far does the lower unit have to be in a barrel of water to pump? Is it the same holes you would put the rabbit ears on or the holes above those?

2.How do I adjust my timing as far as lengthing or shortening the rod that goes from the carbs to the stator plate? Like when should the timing start advancing?

3.Does anybody know how to test the voltage rectifier? I'm having problems with my tach and everything seems to point to the rectifier being weak.

Thanks alot!!

Schweg, Question 1: The water should be up above the caviatation plate 1/4 to 1/2 way up the leg, it is the same holes that you would put the muffs on, but in a barrel you need plenty of water to be sure that pump has something to pump. As for the other two, if your gonna be doing that type of troubleshooting and adjustments you should really get a good manual for your motor and it will walk you through everything. Good luck.
