So tho boat I bought and have still not gotten to really take out is really starting to worry me. I have been waiting for new transom brackets for the power trim as the old ones broke about 2 mins into the first outing, so I have spent the time tinkering with the motor which seems to run pretty sweet now.

Anyway I went out today to start it up and double check everything as it hasen't been run for a few weeks. I start it up after 5 seconds of cranking and it idles perfect I had previously adjusted the shift linkages so I engaged both forward and reverse ( I didn't rev it in gear I just let it engage then sit at idle for 20 or so seconds). After 10 minutes of running I shut it down rather pleased with it, I jump down and turn off the muffs and !!!!!this is where I start to worry The inside of the prop is completely covered in milky sludgy oil. So as im new to boats Im praying this is common and there is no reason to worry.

Is there a chance that it is just the oil from the exhaust mixed with the cooling water???

Yes

Now throw that thing in the nearest lake and see how it runs. Just don't forget the drain plug. :D

:D I could kiss you... I was 10 minutes from burning this leach to the ground and financing a new one... lol

No really though it seems at times like the old girl just wants to be put to rest even after the facelift and tune up she got out of me.

You may want to check your lower unit lubrication to see if it is low. If it is you may have a bad prop seal letting oil leak out causing the milky crap you mentioned. These seals are not very expensive and fairly easy to install.

Hi!
It might be water in the oil in the lower part. If you have a leak, water enters, then it gets mixed with oil and takes an aspect like coffee with milk. If water can enter, this coffee/milk like oil might get out.
Check seals in the lower unit.

It could be unburned engine oil, but it could also be gear oil. Drain a little bit of oil from the LU and take a peek. If it looks milky then you have water intrusion into the LU you need to address.

Just keep in mind that if the engine has been recently ran the oil might look somewhat milky. If your not sure put some in a teaspoon and heat it up.if it starts crackling then it is definetly contaminated with water. frankly i would be somewhat concerned about the transom brackets breaking as i have never heard of that happening and i cant imagine anything other than some sort of problem with the transom that put the brackets in a bind.
