Hi all,

For those who'd like to see what Fishing Club events in Denmark looks like go to

http://www.smaabaadsklub.dk

and select the link 'Billeder' on the left. Opens a submenu.

Language is Danish, but pics say more than a thousand words... :)

The club's name translates into "Small Boat Fishing Club" and counts 2500 members nationwide, all with trailer boats of max. 23' size.

The bigger ones are cod or salmon. Most common are bass, seabass, perch, pike, trout, seatrout, garfish, dab, ling, mackerel, rainbow trout, plaice, coalfish, flounder.

The Danish name for cod is "torsk" and for salmon it's "laks" if you see it in the text.

Most boats have women onboard every now and then. Most pics are from tournaments and for some reason the strong sex doesn't like that as much.

They do like 'after-fish' events, though !!

'eh - 'Coho'? Short for salmon..? Yes, we do get salmon. Not in our closest waters, but when visiting Bornholm or Sweden.

Re: Plenty Fishing pics from Denmark

Now that wasn't the easiest thing to combine from our two languages. 'Salmon' is used widely - even for species not really falling into this category.

The 'true' salmon list, worldwide, is

Salmo salar
Hucho hucho
Oncorhynchus nerka (Sockey)
Oncorhynchus keta (Keta)
Oncorhynchus tshawytscha (Chinok, King)
Oncorhynchus kisutch (Coho)
Oncorhynchus gorbuscha (Pink)
Oncorhynchus masou (Masu)
Oncorhynchus rhodurusi (Amago)

So now I just have to figure out exactly which ones we come across and what those are called in English.

May take a while......
