That I can't find the answers to in any manual.
First, how do I remove the engine cowl on a Force? It's an 87 force by mercury. There doesnt look like there's a lever like on the Johnsons and stuff I've seen.
2nd, how do I know if the motor is oil injected? There's a cap that says engine oil and I know it's 2 stroke. Does that mean it's oil injected and I put oil in there? Or is there a difference between the oil that's mixed with the gas and the oil there?

In fact, if there's some sort of instruction manual with this thing that you guys can tell me about that'd be great.

Nobody on iboats knows how to remove a plastic engine cover or how to tell if an outboard is oil injected or not? Does anybody at least know a more active forum?

Post a couple pictures of the force and folks will be able to help you out as far as the cowling goes. My '70 Merc is a little different than others so it depends on the motor.

Do you have a belly tank or a portable tank?

If that motor is VRO oil injected then you'd have a tank to fill under the splashwell. Again pictures would help.

This thread mentions a '87 Force VRO but the smaller ones may have internal like the new Evinrude etecs.

How many hp is the OB?

Cap is under the cowl.. looks like it's on the powerhead. I would take a picture if I could figure out how to get the cowl off. Pic here, I will get more pics from all angles soon. EDIT There's no latch in the back.

EDIT: You need to downsize that pic, erik.
