Has anybody ever made their own windshield with Plexiglas? I have seen how u can bend them with heat but never seen one for boats.

Re: Plexiglass windshield mock up

Years ago one customer of mine was Disney World in Orlando. It was really fantastic watching how they made the plastic bodies for various rides. Basically you had a positive mold with holes drilled throughout and a piece of plastic above. There was a series of heat sources to soften the large colored plastic sheets. As they softened the vacuum produced by the mold produced a perfect curved model to transform into bodies for rides in it's a small world etc.
Ask me about My suggestion for Sea World and the dolphin show sometime.

Anyway you might be able to do it with a formed solid mold and I think for easy and affordable heat source a couple of infrared portable heaters mounted a predetermined distance away based on test of small pieces of plexiglass. For simple curves you shouldn"t need any vacuum. The only way I have bent plexiglass is with the silicone covered heat strips and that's not an option here.

Maybe someone else knows.
Good luck in your restoration

Azlo use Lexan it will form easier and also be less prone to crack later . I would also suggest PMing Mark42 as I know he has done this once before .
