Pls Help ref Connections!

Posted thread earlier but got no response.

Does anyone know :

Stator coils (2) have a "yellow" wire and white wire".

Are these connected in "series" ? Do the white go to ground?

I acquired te engine where it apparently has been worked on before.

Any help, thanks.

Have a Seloc manuel but no help?

I would like to help but not familiar with your engine. I have a '02 90 hp and the stator wires are yellow. The stators coils are wired in series to get enough voltage to recharge the battery and the output comes out the pair of yellow wires. I also have 3 trigger coils under the flywheel for my 3 cylinders.

John after about 3 hrs digging thru service manuals and not finding any info on the 80/81 engines ign. system it finally dawned on Me to goto the parts manuals and at that point I discovered that the system was the same from mid 77 to the late of that series of HP engines. Anyway on the schematic it don't show the wire you are talking about but in reading the test procedures I would say the the white wires goto grd and the yellow goto the insulated terminal on the terminal block that would be parallel not series. Because the operating and trouble shooting is so long I am PM it to you read it and see what you think --Bob
