Hi All,
Long time Reader First Time poster,
best site and forums on the net for Boater's...
BOAT= FISHER NETTER 14 DLX
I would like to see if anyone is familiar with this model Aluminum Boat as it is primarily riveted although there are a few welds.
I have 2 motor possibilities .. and i sure hope i can make the electric start an option.
the boat is in overall good condition with the exception of the styrofoam, which was waterlogged. i removed aluminum sheet floor and styro. and the frame are like brand new.
OB's i have to work with
25 hp johnson came with boat. Runs great yet its a tiller ,pull start. and hard to get her going when its cold.. i will ask a few questions about motor in the ob repair forum. runs nice would like to see if can get it to pull easier ,, she was outside a few years,,
than there is this fine 74 short shaft
40 hp evinrude electric start remote steering only 20 hrs on her and she is gorgeous.. i hope my wife doesnt read this..
i will be reinforcing transom and or rebuilding it completely. for either motor
This post is primarily to see if anyone here has done what i would like to do to this fisher.. and try to gain some knowledge from all you good folks.
i am thinking scenario one
swap the 25 hp carb for a 35 hp carb to boost hp than install a turbine lower unit to make the boat a river runner. which from what i understand would make it essentially 17hp.. . i own a couple acres riverfront on north branch susquehanna.. thats why i might do it this way.. or..
Scenario 2
make it like the bass boats with a front deck for spot fishing with minn kota a console and steering ,, and a couple nice buckets and one raised pedastal seat in back,, ,, do it this way with all the bells and whistles.. with the added weight i am pretty sure the 40hp evinrude wouldnt be overdoing it..
the boats plate is so worn from sun that you cant read usgc rating the owner (orig) thought it said 35.. not sure.. i did alot of math... and it seems the 40 would be ok... but there is nothing like reality and really having done it.. thats why i am writing this to see if anyone on here has put more hp on a boat than what it was rated for and added weight and maybe trick my transom so , the boat meets usgc spec's... please let me hear your thoughts,, don't be shy,,, thanks to all that read,,
Dan
PS to some that may reply... instead of spending money and time to build this boat up from the hull... why not just buy what you want.. because the market is so great.. (for buyers).. my answer to that is ,, i have been searching hi and low all over eastern states down to virginia and have not found just .. mind you JUST a boat that i like or boat and trailer..,,
if anyone reads this that has just a boat and trailer for sale please reply i would love a 15-17 ft flat or semi-v alum,, or glass.. thanks again.
I CANT WAIT TO GET AFTER SOME SMALLIES WITH SOME HAWLGIES.
