This 1988 88SPL runs very well. All four plugs are uniform in color, but lighter in color than I'm used to seeing. They are about the shade of chamois cloth, or maybe the color of a cardboard box with a little yellow tone thrown in.

From 2-stroke kart racing, I am used to 'ideal' plug color being about like a deer (a live deer, not a deerskin). Most of the outboard plugs I see are darker than that. But of course most of the motors I work on are 1970s, so maybe the newer motors run leaner/cleaner.

Any opinions here? The motor is already out of my hands, so I can't test it with DHadley's "hit the primer button" method.

I am reading the color of the very tip of the insulator, around the center electrode.

Nothing wrong with that. Some of that darkness you see on the plugs of other O.B.s might be due to cheap oil, lugging the engine ,poor sync, crappy fuel, the list go'es on .You sound good though.
