I am trying to find the part number (or the part) for the plug that goes on the outside of the upper part of the sterndrive. It is an OMC Cobra 5.0 liter. One of the two plugs came out and I need to replace it. There is one on each side and it has the OMC logo on it. I have found drawings and pictures with it on there but there is no reference designator which would show the part number. It is the one on the passenger side of the boat.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi there, first using the photo below and inside the following link, lets be sure the plug you are looking for isn't the one that should not be removed at all,

The plug didn't have a part # because when they made them they thought nobody would ever take the sticker off or remove the plug.
It was a hole use in the casting process.
The easiest way to fix is go to an auto parts store and get a screw in plug. Like they would use to put in a freeze plug hole.
One side of the housing is empty.
The other side is a water passage. This one will need a plug. This is the side your missing.
The screw you need has a special nut on the inside.
Probably lost in the system??
Just install a rubber welch plug.
