Plug wires for 03 Merc 25hp?

2 cylinder, I can only find a Merc oem set for $30. Anything Sierra/Mallory? Any reason I can't go to Napa and grab a couple of the right length?

As long as they are braided core wire you are good. You cannot use automotive wire in them, What is wrong I have never seen a set go bad.

Why can't I use auto wire? One of the boots is torn, figured it wouldn't hurt to replace 15 year old wires rather than just replace the boot.

Those are not auto wire on that motor. If you look that is a stranded wire, auto wire has that conductive core that will not hold up and cause you many problems.

You're talking about the carbon core auto wire? My understanding is most auto wire is stranded now...

It's your motor put whatever you want on it.
