In twin Chrysler 440's, engines are run regularly every week up to operating temp when not taken out on the water - the plugs carbon up at the moorage and sometimes misfire. How can I clean out the chambers/plugs - without taking it out on the water. Boat is under resotration and often not advisable to take out. Ive replaced the recommended plug which is Champion RJ12YC with RJ14YC.

Thanks very much.

Re: Plugs carbon fouled

Wood, you are probably gonna have to run these motors under load to get enough heat in the cylinders to keep them from fouling...what you are doing is like starting and older car up and leaving it sit and idle in the garage until warm....you are not doing any favors.....if you cant run the motors up, then lay them up properly until your work is done...

Ditto ODD1. You're doing more harm than good by running these engines for short periods of time under no load conditions.

Go ahead and "pickle" them until you're ready for final launch.
