94 yamaha 250 txrs that I am going through. Seems to run ok, other than loud powerhead. I pull the plugs and the left bank looks normal, however the right bank, especially #3 look like they have mud on them. Coated in thick brown substance. I cleaned them, ran the motor and again, coated in wet, brown stuff. Only thing I can think of is water got in the bearings and I am now breaking all of it loose and it is being carried by fuel/oil to the plugs. Top of the pistons look all muddy too. I have never seen this before.
DOes anyone know what muddy plugs indicate? Looks like wet, runny mud.

Re: plugs look muddy!

No sump on a two stroke and the muddy stuff is not coming from the crankcase but rather a water leak from a blown head gasket. Water mixing with oil creates the chocolate milkshake. Replace the gasket and you should have suffered no ill effects -- but don't run the engine until it's fixed.

That might explain your loud powerhead as well.
