plywood treatment

ok guys whats the best product to seal the plywood before i re carpet..a link would be great also any one have any idea what type of plywood this might be?

That looks like CCA treated plywood to me, because of it's "orange" color. How old is it? Looks to be in pretty fair condition.

i think its original.the boat is a 1982 Alumacraft..yes its in good condition

Sounds like you have CCA treated marine plywood there. As the 20 years of good wear has shown, this plywood doesn't need to be coated with anything to keep it from rotting. But, if you want, coating it with epoxy will help to preserve it further. The epoxy will also strengthen the plywood. A lot of guys here use epoxy from US composites, probably cost $100 for a gallon of epoxy, hardener and pumps.

Yes, you want to seal that plywood. CCA plywood won't rot, but it will check (crack) from water damage. You don't need to seal both sides, just the top side and edges.

The 635 epoxy resin with the medium hardener is great stuff.
