I bought the motor today, ordered service manual this evening. Saw the motor run last yr,the guy said he put new points in and it won't start. Can anyone tell me the point gap and timing?

.020" for point gap. Don't do anything to the timing. This usually is fine for the life of the engine unless someone messes with it.

My dad had one of those way back in the dark ages. From memory, the point gap sets the timing. No other adjustment. Someone with more knowledge than me may correct my memory.

The gap is 20 thou.
