been looking all over and can't find out what to set the pints at..it's a 1971 mercruiser with the renault 90 hp engine in it. motor rolls over great, new fuel lines and by the end of the week i'll have a new dist. cap, rotor cap, condenser along with points and plug wires...i just need to know the gap, anyone help me ?

another question, the electric fuel pump has gone bad also, it's a 12v with a pressure of 7 lbs, will and automotive fuel pump do the same job with a rating of 5-9 psi ?

Re: point gap ?

dont use an automotive pump. you need the marine certified fuel and ignition parts.

regarding your points, not sure. However I would assume somewhere around 0.016. nearly every points application I have had is usually between .014 and .020

i can't find the marine parts for this motor, they all say the magic word "obsolete"...
