I have a champion s1f and I need to check the gap on my points. I am new to this hobby and I'm not sure how to do this. Do I check the gap at the start position or what. I think the gap is .027 but I'm not sure.
Thanks

Re: points gap

Throttle position has nothing to do with it. Rotate the crankshaft till the points are open as wide as they go, then adjust the gap to specs. I doubt .027 is correct though. Better recheck your info.

Yep, your correct. .027 is my plug gap. My point gap should be .018

If you don't already have one, pick up a set of feeler gauges at an auto parts store. Indispensable for a points ignition.
