I got to thinking about my no spark issue to the plugs and I have another question.

My Johnson is 3 Cyl. Are there going to be 3 sets of points under the Flywheel or just one?

The reason I ask is because I can get the Coil to spark but not the plugs..and I can't see all 3 sets of points (if there are that many) all going bad at once.

So 3 points or 1?..that is todays question :)

Thanks!
Carl

How's that work?? Very well. Actually there are two sets of points and a 3-lobe cam (part of the crankshaft). They are in series in the sense that the wire goes from one to the other. Electrically, they are in parallel. When either one is closed, the circuit is grounded. When both are open the circuit is ungrounded. The number of rotational degrees between the two make it work. Don't stay up all night trying to figure it out. Just get them clean and properly gapped like any other points.
