I have been offered a Polar (or Polar Craft) model CGF-1444 for what appears to be a reasonable price, but ... I know absolutely nothing about this line.

An online search didn't turn up anything even close, so I was wondering if anyone was familiar with this model and about the general opinion consensus.

It appears in reasonable shape .. no leaks and needs just a little work.

I did notice that the transom is aluminum both in and out. I don't know if it's filled or not and if it is, what with, but I would think it should have a wood core.

Any info or opinions would be appreciated.

Re: Polar CGF-1444

Thanks .. I found most of what I wanted to know from the thread you posted and referred me to.

Seems like it's very likely worth the money I'm being asked for.

I do appreciate the time you took to respond ...

Sorry that really wasn't much of a response. However, no Polarcraft dealer in my state. So I've never had a chance to examine one.

Kelly

Polarcraft is an aluminum hull design. Polar brand boats have a fiberglass hull. Polar is actually manufactured by Dynasty boats a subsidiary of Godfrey Marine. Polarcraft is Godfrey Marines own line of fishing boats. I own a Polar bayboat and am happy with it.

Re: Polar CGF-1444

Thanks, PAkev, but after taking a closer look and reading the obvious ... this is definitely a Polar Kraft.

I originally got the model from the owner as the plate was missing and the boat had been painted, but he had the plate (??) why he hadn't remounted it is beyond me and I got to see it late this afternoon.

It's aluminum, has a small dent in the flat nose from someone jamming it against the trailer stop and the transom liner needs replacing. Otherwise, no leaks and no severe damage, just lotsa hard use.

For $450 on a trailer (and the wheels even turn), I think it's worth buying.

This is sorta like a Jon boat with a semi vee hull bow to about half way back. Shouldn't beat me to death in water I wouldn't want to take a purely flat bottom rig into.

Thanks guys .. I appreciate the replies.
