"Poles" ??

I have a 1985 Johnson 40 VRO and am looking to put in a new tach. ( seems to be running with low RPM's acording to the tach I have ) How many "poles" does this engine have ???? I may be missing it but I cannot find it mentioned in the manual.

Ought to be 10 poles, 5 pulses per revolution (set to 5P).
(EDIT: Too slow. )

a quick way to tell on the little OMC stuff, a 4 wire rectifier is 10 pole a 3 wire is 6 pole.
most older 2 cyl stuff had a 4 wire but not all.
