They're car motors. Use whatever brand you like to use. If you're in doubt, use whatever brand(s) V-P recommends for your motor.

I use NGK in my Mercruiser but would have no issue with AC/Delco. NGK in my outboards.

^Agreed. As long as you don't get fancy with the quintuple-electrode junk, a spark plug is a spark plug for most applications. The only time when certain spark plugs start becoming necessary is under high boost/high HP engines which can introduce spark blow-out from the rush of incoming air.

If you want better performance, you can upgrade certain ignition components, but all of those components come before the spark plugs.

I posted as other because I use Motorcraft spark plugs. :D

Correct heat range, and, for marine use, corrosion resistance are the only things that matter, and for me, its NGK, with Delco in close second.

Manufacturer gives several choices. I've seen opinions from ACTUAL mechanics on threads that indicated some had more DOA than others.

Since I couldn't find that thread, I decided to post a poll. Couldn't be simpler.

Well there you have it... what you'll get here is a bunch of opinion
The only folks who really have a clue are the manufacturers... they are the only ones who have an insight into true fail rate.

its the same with Guitar tube amps ( which I play )... players and service techs will have favorites. But its the builders that use 1000s of tubes that truely know which brands fail at higher rate.

Well, that's why I posted a poll. Feel free to click a button. Or not.

I can pick out plugs just like anyone else, just thought I'd spend an extra 30 seconds seeing if there was a trend in quality that might be reflected in the experiances of other boaters and boat mechanics that frequent this forum. If one manufaturer has more DOA than another, I'd like to know. A plug is a plug, otherwise.

I didn't vote because I don't think there is any "BEST" plug, or BEST of anything for that matter. I can tell you that in my opinion Champion is about the worst choice you could make for a boat spark plug due to experience.
I have had the insulators blown out, I have replaced many after a customer installed them and they wouldn't all fire and the engine missed, they are longer, and with some manifolds are almost impossible to install or remove without breaking the insulator. All in all, not something I would use or recommend to anyone. I use either AC or NGK and have not had problems with either one.

I also cleaned up this thread, lets keep it on subject.

Thanks, Don. THAT was the kind of comment I was hoping for.

I guess, IMHO... it would probably better to ask what was the worst plug... that would have gotten a lot more action. :)

I totally agree with Don on the Champions...and they are too light to even make a good paperweight!
