Pontoon boat & CCW motor

Good day to all
I recently purchased a couple of Merc 150 (long leg 25") of which one is CCW.

I have no issues with the leg length as I have no problem with the motor sitting a little higher.

1- The concern I have if I use the motor that is the CCW model, is/would there be there any concerns?

My reason for the next question is just that a question

2- Could I run twins between the logs being that the motors I have are 25" legs which would allow me to stick them lower to catch cleaner water?
I understand the're would be a loss in power from having the motor deeper but with the twins that would not be a big concern.

For the curious ones this is a project boat so accommodating the weight of the motors is also a no issue. The pontoon frame and deck has been built with the intention of supporting big horse power.

The pontoons are 25" x 19'3" long (total weight cap. of 4080lbs) The roughly calculated weight without motor and fuel is under a 1000lbs.

Re: Pontoon boat & CCW motor

I think if I was doing it from scratch as you seem to be I would hang them off the back of each pontoon. The water would be a lot cleaner and they won't interfere with one another. With your transom setup and motors and hookups your going to be possibly over 1,000 lbs right at the back of the boat.?? Even if in between that seems like a lot of weight.Unless you need the twins for backup it seems to me a 250 or 300 would be better.probably faster and less fuel and complication.
No complications if you choose to run the ccw motor as a single. The effects of prop torque would be opposite.

I didn't think there would be a problem other than the prop torque would be reversed, just wasn't 100% sure. Thanks

The idea of mounting the twins at the end of the toons would have been my first choice also but I did not have these two motors when the deck and frame were built.
I originally got a 55 Johnson but after reading so many post from people about wishing they had more power had me reconsider things which has I admit snow balled a bit.
I will only be installing one ( should be enough :D ) but the thrill seeker in me likes to dream and was curious if it could be done.
