anyone have a beach ramp on their pontoon? I'm thinking of making one but just wanted your thoughts, reviews, experiences.
Thanks

I've not used one. We just climb up and down when needed. ... My biggest concern would be where to keep it when it wasn't in use. ... Do you envision sliding it up under the deck?

I'm glad someone else asked. I had no idea what it was. Looks like a cool item though. We have a ladder that we rarely use. Wonder if it could be switched out for this.

Well see guys my wife is 8 weeks Prego and I won't be able to use our bass boat in a few months. So it's back to the pontoon and it would be to hard for her to try and use the ladder to get back into the boat even from a beach. This way we are able to still go boating and she could still enjoy. I am using two 4" galvanized C channel 10' long and will have a roller/ rubber caster wheel that slides up and down the channel, very similar to your local box truck rental place " the trucks that have a slide out ramp for the back". It will store under the deck when not in use locked in and when needed simplyslide it out.

Any excuse for a project is a good one. ... My 25 year old niece loves to go out with me on my pontoon boat. Our lake doesn't have much in the way of beaches, so she mostly swims and climbs back in using the vertical ladder hanging on the side. She was 5-7 months pregnant during the summer of 2013 and had no real problem getting into the boat. But she was very athletic both before and during her pregnancy.

The best part about these are When needing to dock at a public dock just for a brief moment you can just extend the ramp vs taking up the entire real estate of your boat you simply toss out your dock line attached to the ramp and slide it out.

Just to toss something out for consideration, they make something similar for use by dogs when out over your favorite swimming hole. If something like this were designed to allow for something like that (if you have dogs) it could serve as dual purpose.

I saw a guy with something like that last summer out at a sand bar on the chain o lakes last year, it was pretty slick. He said that he made it himself and fabricated the under-deck storage himself. it looked pretty straight forward. I would think if you're handy and have the space to work, you should be able to knock it out in an afternoon
