My hubby and I tore down our 1982 Harris Flote Boat. New vinyl flooring ( Love it) seats, wiring , console and steering! Now the real question .. can I place the gas tank on the pontoon to get it off the deck floor? Any ideas? A number of years ago I saw a gas tank that would fit on a pontoon it had the curved bottom, However I have not seen one since.. I was looking for some sort of retainer that bolts onto the pontoon- notta! I am looking for a user friendly way of attaching some sort of platform onto the pontoon to store my gas tank. I am not concerned about the weight as we all sit upfront

Thank you !

Any local fabricator can fashion on an aluminum platform for the top of each pontoon. Standard 6 gallon fuel tanks can then be bungee corded to the platform. Should not cost much to add. Fuel tanks are also available that install in the engine pod directly in front of the engine. You just need to make sure the tank has a high vent and that the cap is never left loose as there is a lot of water spray in that area.

I don't want permanent fuel tanks in my pontoon. I use a plastic 12 gallon fuel tank and a 6 gallon factory metal fuel tank as a reserve. If I'm going long distance, I have a second plastic 12 gallon tank in storage. At the end of the boating year, I just don't want any old gasoline to gum up--especially the 90/10 gas we're stuck with now.

I have a 30 gallon built in tank on the port rear side behind the seat and the lounger .As forl stale gasoline ,I drain my tank every fall before it is winterized. it's not a hard thing to do.It just remove my fuel filter pump the rubber ball and drain it into my 6 gallon plastic cans. Thi9s is better then exposing the tank to summer heat.

And the last two posts added "zero" value to the original post.
