Our engineering firm needs to periodically rent a pontoon boat for 1-3 days for inspecting bridges all over west and central Michigan.
We found McDonald's in Frankfort, but we need something closer
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

'West Michigan' would cover everything from Traverse City to Coldwater, including Frankfort. If that's too far, can you be more specific? Have you tried calling marinas around you?

Your company might not know how to do this, but I'd suspect you could buy a decent used pontoon and trailer for what it would cost to rent one a few times.

It also seems like if your firm owned one you could outfit it with any necessary equipment to make the job easier. I'm not sure what all you need on the boat to perform these inspections but it seems like it would be difficult to keep a rental boat with the soft seats and nice carpet in good enough shape to satisfy the people you are renting it from. There are plenty of older pontoons around with good reliable motors that would serve this purpose very well.

Where exactly are you loacated?

If you have a contract that will have you doing bridge inspections on a long term basis, you might want to consider a lease. I don't know of any work boat rental companies in that area but, here in Louisiana, this is common. It might even be cost effective to come down here and get one if you will use it for long enough.

Here's one example of a company that you could go to:
