looking at installing an amp to power 4 speakers on my pontoon but am unsure of the amp mounting location. One of the things the amp manual states is to have good ventilation. i have a small area under my steering column where all the boat wires are and stereo wires and was looking to install it inside that but was concerned about airflow. The cubby is about 2x2x2 accessed by a door. Just looking for opinions or experiences with mounting locations. I'm extremely limited on a pontoon boat, thx

You could always install a 12V fan near the amp to keep it cool if you're concerned. It shouldn't overheat that much unless you are playing some serious volume levels. Just think of the cubbyholes in cars that these things get shoved into, under seats, etc.

Something else to keep in mind is that the fins of the heat sink need to be vertical. Heat rises, so the airflow must be able to pass by unobstructed or else... If an amp is horizontal the air gets trapped, doesn't cool and you are looking for a new amp. And yes, a small muffin fan is an excellent idea.
