We're taking my 1994 JC Pontoon out this weekend and would like to pull the kids around. Problem is there is no place to connect a rope to the back of the boat. The U shaped toons do not have lift rings on the back and the only thing that might work are the cleats (Have heard they will rip out so I do not like this option). I have comtacted the manufacturer and they do not have a tow bar for this boat. Any of you guys have an idea as to what I can do? Pictures of the back of the boat attatched.

I would mount 2 eyebolts on the rear deck. (Assuming the deck is plywood).

You can get stainless eyebolts that will long enough to go thru your deck, plus a good size backing plate under the deck. you need to get two of them one mounted on each side, then use a bridel to attach the tow rope.

On the port side, I would go right thru the bottom railing of the fence. My pontoon boat did not have cleats on the sides or in the back, I used eyebolts, the held just fine, they shoudl do fine for towing as well.

The hardest part you are going to have is to get them so they are even on both sides.

if nothing, else, i would put an eye bolt, with large washers on each side of the motor thru the transom mount. and make a harness to go around the motor, with snap hooks. that put all the strain on the transom, where the power is.

Well here is what we did. A friend of mine picked up some Zinc plated U bolts. We drilled holes through the aluminum trim and wood on each side of the engine on the deck. We then put the U bolts through a plate and used fender washers on the bottom with nuts to hold it on. They are even on the back of the boat and feel super solid. I bought a tow bridle and rope today and will give a report when we get back. I think it will work nicely.
