I didn't actually get to see this but heard about it from a salesman at a dealership...Anyway, this retired couple had just bought a lakehouse and went in to this dealership and purchased a new pontoon w/ trailer. After a couple of hours had gone by, the dealership got a phone call from the couple complaining about how cr*ppy the boat ran, how hard it was to steer, ect. and explained that if this was all the better this boat was supposed to run, then they could come get it. The salesman told them that something had to be wrong so he would arrange for one of the mechanics to come out and look at it. The mechanic shows up and after removing the cover from the moter, checking things out to try to find the problem, happens to look down and notices that the boat has tail lights! sure enough, he looks over the side and can see the wheels spinning in the water. I guess it took them an hour or better to get the boat/trailer back out of the water while a good sized croud looked on. :p

That's a good one, there was a very similar incident that occured on a lake near here.

A fellow was going to camp out with his family, but his wife had to attend a meeting first and was running late. They went to the lake where they met the wife's co-worker who was going to give her a ride to the meeting. The husband told the wife to back him down the ramp and disconect the boat. He would then go accross the lake and dock near their camp site. She backed him down the ramp, unhooked the boat and pulled back up the ramp, parked their rig, got in with the co-worker and went off to the meeting.

The husband was having a heck of a time getting accross the lake. He could not get up to speed or on plane, it was hard to steer and so forth. He was getting very upset and decided to turned around about half way across the lake and was going to put it on the trailer an have it checked out. When he docked at the ramp and went to get his rig, he realized the trailer was missing. He was furious. His boat was running like crap and now some one had stolen his trailer. He then called the authorities to report the boat trailer stolen. When they arrived and went to the boat to get some info; they realized the trailer was still under and attached to the boat. The wife had just got out and unhitched the trailer.

How humiliating

TRP251

SLOOPY, and everyone else:

You don't need to disconnect the trailer and let it fall. I launch the trailer everytime (On Purpose) I go to Trinity Lake cause I don't want to beach it in the red dirt or go through the hassel of an anchore. I leave the toungh jack with the wheel down and when I get to the shore, I just give it a little throttle and the trailer starts to climb out of the water. When I am out far enough I leave the motor running and jump out and tie it down and then disconnect the trailer and let the boat sit on the trailer when not in use. On the reverse, I strap the boat back to the trailer and use the motor to get the trailer off the shore and when I get back to the ramp, I again give the motor a little throttle and she climbs up onto the ramp and then I have the car/truck back down and hook on and go. It's really very easy and takes less time than retrieving the boat normally.

Craig
