Just to set the stage that was a few of the issues.End of last season customer forgot the fuel fill and we had a heavy rain, guess where it went.Motor started then stopped and would not run. Drained the tank, fuel sep, removed carb and turned it upside down , etc. Got the motor running with a full tune up including wires. Customer winterized motor and covered for the winter
Fast forward to 2021
A initial launch, motor had no power above 3000. tried a smaller prop, nada.
new cap and rotor, some corrosion but nothing to report. No effect. Tried a electric fuel pump, nada.New plugs, nada. A cylinder balance revealed 3 dead cylinders from no drop in rpm even with the 3 wires out of the dist. So as a last resort we replaced the ign wires. Started and sounded a lot better, quick throttle response in the slip. Testing tomorrow and will report back.
So just because things are new does not mean they still work correctly sitting over the winter
Have a Safe Season
