The poppet valve system cannot be adjusted per say. It operates on water pressure and does not open up until you have sufficent water pressure in the cooling system and then it dumps excess water into the exhaust to go overboard.
You will overheat problems at idle if it sticks open, vs, overheat at high rpm if does not open.
Do you have a cooling problem?
