Poppet assembly question.

Hello forums its been a while since i last checked in.

I have a quick question i hope. I replaced the poppet in my 88 v6 135
an all the parts that go with it. so my question is, when i screwed the washer the diaphragm and the water deflector to the back end of the poppet, the screw didn't go in all the way is that right? is the screw suppose to go all the way in until the head hits the washer.

when i put it all back together there is tension on the plates now and it wasn't when i took it off. I got to really crank down on it to drive the screw in more. the poppet is siting in the seat well, it has firm presser to hold it.

It's a while since I looked at one of those, but I do remember that the screw does go all the way in.

I'm currently in the Faroe Islands and I'm not able to get to my manuals for another month (work does that to me).

I know I haven't been much help, sorry...

Gday,sounds like something not seated correctly.Some of those washers/spacers have bevels that need to be facing inward to block.
Just about to change impeller on my V6 135 today,same year as yours.
Found good video online by Editboi (Jose).changing poppet on 150hp 2005.Just google "changing poppet mercury"it may help.

Well i pulled it all out again today an it went all the way in this time i guess one of those duhhhhh moments.
