I just pulled my poppet valve and noticed that the fitting on it goes nowhere. I noticed a well behind the cover on the block but thats it.. Am I missing something. It seems that the hose coming off the head going to that fitting could be deleted.

Re: Poppet valve

I don't think that hose is for flow. Pressure from it modifies the operation of the poppet valve.

hope it helps

Re: Poppet valve

Actually when the poppet valve opens, it allows water already inside the block to circulate and go out the exhaust through the lower end. The hose you are asking about just provides the pressure to open the poppet valve. Next was there grommet on the block? round black rubber gadget? It provides a seat for the carrier.

Re: Poppet valve

The picture in my manual shows a notch that coresponds with the hole in the middle plate of the poppet assembly but my engine block does not have this notch. Still scratching my head.
