The engine ran fine when parked last fall. Today it cranked but I quickly noticed no water going through the engine, Can anyone tell me if it has a poppet valve and if so how hard is it to replace? thansk

Ayuh,... I'd sooner think the impeller gave up the ghost...

Rebuild the waterpump...

Thanks. I will remove the foot and take a look. I did try to run water into the flush hole but it is blocked and no water would go through the engine but checking the pump will be the first thing..
