I have a 2000 pro-weld Nova 18' aluminum bass boat with a 90 hp merc w/trim, and 17 pitch prop. the boat comes out of the hole great, but as soon as your on top and start to trim up, the boat starts to porpoise badly. What to do?
Pat

Hi, Pat.

Move some weight forward and don't trim out so far.

Good luck. :)

pat-- when it starts to porpoise on you down trim just a tad and that should cure your problem. also do you have fins on your motor?

Re: porpoising

I find moving weight forward will tame the beast with my boats. I find that aluminum boats have this problem the worst and then inflatables. Good Luck

Had the same problem with my 18' Bayliner w/125hp. Whaletail fixed it and didn't cost much with little or no noticeable change in the hole shot or top end. Good Luck

I run with two sacks, each with about 10kg sand in them up in the bow. Solved this problem for me.
Ross

When it starts to porpoise you are over trimmed period. You don't need extra weight, just trim the bow down until it stops.

mabbot's rite...trim to the edge of stability then back of a quick tap on the trim switch
