Port Prop not Turning

I have a 2000 Volvo Penta 280Gsi and yesterday I hit the port prop; changed it this morning thinking that I had stripped it, but it still is not turning in either forward or reverse. When I remove the prop and put engine in gear the shaft is not turning either.
Any suggestions as to likely cause(s)?

you either broke something in the outdrive or the engine couple is ripped up

If you can safely see the coupler when the engine is running, see if the driveshaft is turning. If it is, you have some internal drive damage, if not, the coupler is toast.
