Portable Gas tanks

Hi
want to fill up a couple of portable gas tanks and bring them down to my boat. The tanks I have had some old gas sitting in them. I removed the old gas and hosed out any of the sediment that was floating in the gas.

Once I let it completing dry out, will I be ok putting new gas in it and bringing it to the boat? I had a different boat years ago that had so many issues from bad gas, so I want to make sure that there isn't any varnish on the sides of the containers that will release and flow into the boat tank.

I of course will make sure they completely dry out and there is no reminances of water before i add the new gas.

thanks

Re: Portable Gas tanks

the bad stuff either floats or settles on the bottom, mostly the latter, so if the bottom is clean and dry you are in good shape.

UNless it's a metal tank with rust

Thanks,
Its just a standard plastic red container. the bottom is clean and it is dry. Didnt know if any varnish can be on the sides and when I add the new gas it contaminates it

Re: Portable Gas tanks

I had an issue where the tank had to be removed and the white jelly removed. Then they clean the tank with ethanol. - True story !
BTW, I hate E10 gas, and the oil refiners are being forced to buy credits so they don't need to comply with the E15 mandates.
