i have what i believe to be a 1973 50hp johnson ser.#E3809917 mod.#50R73-R the 50&73 <br />of the mod.# i find in my manuals but no exact match any one know what the rs are for?<br /><br /> (FISHTREMBLEATTHESOUNDOFMYNAME)

That is a 1973 rope start (R) and a short shaft.

thanks bw17mt i knew it had been converted from tiller to cable but as it is electric start i didnt realize that this also was a conversion the second r is that indicative of the shortshaft & how did you decifer the mod.#? thanks again
