Possible - boat key turns itself off while underway?

I have a 1989 17' bowrider with 3.7 Merc 180hp i/o.

About two weeks ago I posted thinking my little girl had inadvertently shut off the key while underway while moving from the front to back of boat.

However I think the same thing happened today at low speed and nobody was near the key. I was so startled I can't remember if the key was actually off when we stopped but I think it was. I put the engine in neutral, waited a few minutes and the engine started instantly.

Am I crazy? (Quite possible).

My car does that when I drive by a bar. Was their a fish camp near you?

My wife just will not buy it.

Sounds more like a loose or corroded connections somewhere. Start the engine on muffs, and do a wiggle test on all the connections. Don't forget the kill switch.
Oh, and wing nuts on battery connections is NOT a good thing and leads to loose connections.
