The motor is a 1998 75 hp Force.
I managed to run aground Saturday night on a bar made of course grit and stone. Luckily only doing 4 knots. It took the shine off the gear case and most of the paint of the prop. The grit was quite abrasive. Pushed the boat off the bar, restarted, checked the tell tail was squirting water and continued on. Ran the motor for another 2 hours at idle speeds (speed restricted area) and returned to the ramp. Whilst flushing the motor I noticed that the volume of water from the tell tail was less than normal.
I plan to drop the gear case and inspect the impeller and remove the thermostat housing and back flush the cooling system. I intend to spray the garden hose into the thermostat opening. If there is a better way please let me know.
I have checked the compression to see if there has been any damage from overheating and had 140 on all three cylinders.
Whilst I have it apart is there anything else I should look at or do?
Cheers
Dean
