Hello,
I have a well functioning '88 115hp motor. I just noticed what looks a little funky on the power trim assembly. It looks like a seal and ring or something. The tilt seems to be working really well, but I'm concerned about the assembly getting contaminated. A new one is pretty pricey!

Here are a couple of pics showing what i found. Any ideas?

Well, that shouldn't be there. I assume you do have a seal in the center cylinder? Maybe the center cylinder seal was replaced and the old one was left on the trim rod?

BTW- paint or spray your trim motor with corrosion guard. Your's looks real rusty, and could rust thru.

Yeah, it's weird, as there appears to be a seal there. That's why it was so confusing/.
Good idea on the paint. Just got the motor a few months ago. I'll clean it up
